Trust & Obedience

1 Samuel 16
1 The LORD said to Samuel, "How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel ? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king."
2 But Samuel said, "How can I go? Saul will hear about it and kill me."
The LORD said, "Take a heifer with you and say, 'I have come to sacrifice to the LORD.' 3 Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what to do. You are to anoint for me the one I indicate."
4 Samuel did what the LORD said. When he arrived at Bethlehem ,
12. So he sent and had him brought in. He was ruddy, with a fine appearance and handsome features.
Then the LORD said, "Rise and anoint him; he is the one."
13. So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the LORD came upon David in power. Samuel then went to Ramah.

Revelation:

David was anointed as King by Samuel, but David did not become king right away. David went right back to what he was doing. He went right back to his regular job of tending his fathers sheep. David did not go out and stick out his chest and starting talking down to people because he was anointed as king. He did not go around telling people that he was anointed as King. David went right back to tending his fathers sheep. David did not go out and find himself a kingdom to rule over, he waiting. Now in the natural it seems like, “we” would want to go out and start telling people that God has anointed us as King, (even if we weren’t prepared) “We” would want to get in our “natural” minds and start acting a certain way and doing certain things because we know that “now” we are King. We are ruler over many. God has appointed us over the masses. We are “in charge” No one can tell us what to do because WE HAVE BEEN ANNOINTED KING.
David was obviously much smarter (at that time) than we would be, so he waited. David waited for God’s plan to come together in his life the way that God intended for it to be.

How many times has God “anointed us as King” and given us things that we DID NOT wait on?

How many times has God given us the house but we refuse to “wait” on it.
We refuse to wait for God to put some people in place and move some folks out of place that will attempt to hinder God’s blessing for your life and to NOT add any trouble to it.(Proverbs 10:22) God is working it out for you to pay “no down payment, no closing costs, and a low fixed interest rate.
Instead we worry and pace the floor because the time is about to expire on our interest rate or the contingency plan is almost up on the house that we are trying to sell. So what we do is step outside of God’s good, pleasing, and perfect will for our lives and begin to handle (we think) the problem because ultimately what it boils down to is that WE DON’T TRUST GOD ENOUGH TO WAIT!

How many times has God sent us the mate that we have been praying about but we refuse to wait! So what we do is give our body to that person thinking that our “prize” will secure the ring. We think it will secure the commitment, the promise, the house with the picket fence, the respect. But ultimately what it does is, destroy the promise of a marriage, create the disrespect, default the ring, the house with the picket fence, the friendship and the trust! We default all of this because ultimately we DON’T TRUST GOD ENOUGH TO WAIT!

Trust God! He will never leave you nor forsake you! He knows what he is doing. He knew us before we were even formed! He knows the very intimate details of how are lives are going to unfold.

Don’t prolong your desert experience because of your lack of trust and disobedience!

David went through hell and high water, but God placed him as King over Judah.
